5 Cleveland Indians selected to MLB All-Star Game

The Cleveland Indians will be represented by five All-Stars: third baseman Jose Ramirez (starter), shortstop Francisco Lindor, outfielder Michael Brantley, starting pitcher Cory Kluber and reliever Andrew Miller. Ramirez, 24, is Cleveland's youngest fan-voted All-Star starter since Sandy Alomar in 1990. Houston pitchers Dallas Keuchel and Lance McCullers Jr. were picked, as well, giving the Astros five All-Stars, tied for the most with the New York Yankees, Cleveland and Washington. He's also the Indians' first fan-voted starter since Juan Gonzalez in 2001. Two of the first-time starters are from the Houston Astros, who have the best record in the major leagues: shortstop Correa and outfielder George Springer.


This will be Altuve's third straight All-Star start. The host Marlins will be represented by Marcell Ozuna, starting for the second straight year for the National League. Rosters for the 2017 MLB All-Star Game were revealed on Sunday, with baseball's brightest stars set for the midsummer classic at Marlins Park in Miami. The All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 11, and will be televised by Fox. Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies beat out reigning National League MVP Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs in fan voting to start at third base for the NL.
