With Yu Darvish starting for the Rangers against the Rays on Friday night, the speculation at Tropicana Field was that with Yankees scout Brandon Duckworth on hand, the Bombers were interested in Darvish. With the Texas Rangers considering offers for the 30-year-old strikeout artist, the Yankees sent a scout to watch Darvish pitch against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday evening, per the New York Post. Since arriving to the bigs in Darvish is 52-38 with a 3.32 ERA, 129 ERA+ and 11.0 SO/9. For the Yankees, the interest isn't hard to understand: Darvish, despite not coming with years of club control, is a legitimate ace.

Seattle general manager Jerry Dipoto and the Mariners are possibly looking to acquire Athletics sought-after ace Sonny Gray, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Even if they don't make it this year, the Mariners would have a quality staff coming back, with Gray, Felix Hernandez and James Paxton leading the way. Gray has drawn interest from the Brewers, Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, Astros, a mysterious National League team that is possibly looking to convert him to a closer and others so far. Regardless, Dipoto will still be looking for ways to add controllable starters like he did with Gonzales last week. "He is going for it these next two years," the source said of Dipoto.
