It appears Justin Verlander has not made his last start in a Tigers uniform. Martinez and still have trade candidates Justin Wilson, Alex Avila, Ian Kinsler and Jose Iglesias, could make Verlander available again this winter. As reported by Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, barring a "miracle," Detroit will keep Verlander through Monday's non-waiver trade deadline. Verlander will almost certainly clear waivers in August, making him a candidate to be dealt then. Verlander was considered one of the top available starters as the deadline approached, though there has been greater interest in Oakland's Sonny Gray and Texas' Yu Darvish.
He said that even after acquiring Hellickson, the Orioles are still looking to move their relievers who might be their best trade assets, Zach Britton and Brad Brach. If they don't do that, all of this talking about trading Britton soon may be moot. Maybe perfume or cologne, the kind of thing that's sold with images of rippling, muscular bodies on a yacht and whispered French phrases? That GM Dan Duquette seems to be doing so is a good thing. I don't actually want the Orioles to trade either one of these guys.

On the season, he's 6-9 with a 4.01 ERA (115 ERA+), 1.17 WHIP and 148 strikeouts in 137 innings. Sonny GrayGray, 27, won't hit free agency until after the 2019 season, so he's controlled and most decidedly not a rental. @MLB @MLBNetwork — Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) July 29, 2017So Verlander sounds likely to stay put, while Gray is holding everything up.
