MLB.com's Jon Morosi tweets that the team is still in on Tigers lefty Justin Wilson and perhaps other relievers. The Nationals' Achilles' heel this season has of course been the bullpen, and even after acquiring Doolittle and Madson, the bullpen could use some help. As always, this is a market highly saturated with relievers, so the team in the nation's capital has plenty of options to choose from. The team has seen strong performances from Enny Romero and Matt Albers, so they in theory now have four trusted relievers. Wilson has been lights-out all season, with ten saves in place of ousted closer Francisco Rodriguez, along with a 12.7 K/9 and excellent 0.906 WHIP.




The Boston Red Sox are searching far and wide for their inevitable third base upgrade at the deadline this season, according to Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald. The Red Sox designated third baseman Pablo Sandoval for assignment earlier this week, electing to eat the over $49.5 million still owed to him. Frazier, 31, will head into free agency after the season and would serve as a good bridge to Red Sox top prospect Rafael Devers, who was promoted to AAA Pawtucket this week. Despite a low batting average, Frazier has an OPS+ of 105 this season along with 16 homers and 44 RBIs. Boston third basemen have combined for an OPS+ of 59 this season, worst in the major leagues.

That's why the Todd Frazier of the ever-rebuilding White Sox has surfaced in trade rumors in recent days. Con — New York has no real reason to ship off a young, effective player player with five controllable years remaining on his current deal. Red Sox third basemen have hit only seven homers while slashing at .233/.288/.333 with just 39 RBIs this season. Eduardo Nunez, GiantsPro — Nunez can play middle infield as well as the outfield if needed. Con — He's not a great defensive third baseman and hits for even less power (four homers this season) than Harrison.
