Bautista had 16 homers and 43 RBI heading into Friday, and he'd add a strong right-handed bat to a team looking for power help. There's a $17 million mutual option in his contract that Toronto doesn't have to pick up next season.

MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees may be looking at adding Rangers' Yu Darvish

As previously noted in this space, the Dodgers and Cubs were among the teams who scouted Rangers ace Yu Darvish during his strong start against the Rays on Friday night. Via George King III of the New York Post:With Yu Darvish starting for the Rangers against the Rays on Friday night, the speculation at Tropicana Field was that with Yankees scout Brandon Duckworth on hand, the Bombers were interested in Darvish. As such, they may be looking to get something for Darvish, who's in his walk year and has been both effective and healthy in 2017. They also have the long-term, controllable assets that the Rangers would be seeking in such a deal. The Rangers are all but buried in the AL West and behind a slew of teams in the chase for the second AL wild card berth.


And as MLB Trade Rumors suggests, there could have been another player involved whose medical issues caused the Braves to balk too. MLB.com reporter Mark Bowman said Friday the deal was not called off due to medical issues. On Saturday, Ken Rosenthal reported why the trade fell through: medical issues. Sources: Garcia trade stalled due to #Braves' medical concern on #Twins' prospect. On Thursday night, the Twins were reportedly in the "final stages" of completing a trade with the Atlanta Braves for starting pitcher Jaime Garcia.
