MLB trade rumors: Yankees reportedly shopping utility man Rob Refsnyder quoting : CBS Sports

From the New York Post comes the following trade rumor:According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the Yankees have let clubs know they are willing to listen to trade offers for infielder/outfielder Rob Refsnyder. Yankees utility man Rob Refsnyder might not have an MLB roster spot available to him this year, but that could change in the upcoming days along with a change of scenery. Torres could play second base, with Starlin Castro shifting to third base. So, as noted, it doesn't look like there's going to be much place for Refsnyder in the near future. And then there's the matter of hot-shot prospect Gleyber Torres, a shortstop by trade who is somewhat blocked by Didi Gregorius.

MLB trade rumors: Yankees reportedly shopping utility man Rob Refsnyder
With right field a toss up between Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks, first base Greg Bird's to lose and Starlin Castro entrenched at second base, Refsnyder doesn't really have anywhere to go. The Yankees have let teams know Refsnyder is available via trade, according to a report from the New York Post's George King. Refsnyder isn't considered a great defender at second base, the corner outfield or first base -- the positions he's played in the majors. Still a useful piece: While Refsnyder hasn't been a Gold Glover -- or anywhere close -- in the majors, he's shown he's willing to do whatever's asked of him and that he's adaptable. He also hasn't shown he can hit for much power, though he's got solid line-drive ability, knows the strike zone and recognizes pitches.

MLB Rumor Central: New York Yankees shopping Rob Refsnyder?

Without a clear position on the New York Yankees' depth chart, Rob Refsnyder is on the trading block. He has major league experience at first base, second base, third base and all three spots in the outfield. The Yankees have let other clubs know they are willing to listen to trade offers for the 25-year-old, George A. He's had more success in the minors, where he hit .316 at the Triple-A level last season. Refsnyder has spent parts of the last two seasons in the majors, hitting .262 with two home runs and 17 RBIs in 195 at-bats.
